Sam Mutukudzi Burial Set For Wednesday

Harare, March 16, 2010 - The burial of Zimbabwean muscician superstar Sam Mtukudzi and his friend cum sound engineer, Owen Chimhare has been set for Wednesday afternoon.

Sam, the son of oliver Mutukudzi, Zimbabwe's legendary singer and icon, died when their car crashed into a bridge along the Bulawayo- Harare highway early Monday morning.

TukuMusik official spokesperson Shephered Mutamba said the two will be buried side by side at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare.

“They are going to be buried side by side at the Warren Hills cemetery tomorrow (Wednesday). The burial will take place at 2pm, Wednesday 17th February 2010,” said Mutamba.

A church seervice was held Tuesday in memory of the two friends at the Nyaradazo Funeral Parlour in Harare.

The bodies will lie in state at their respective family homes awaiting burial.

“Tomorrow, Sam’s body will be taken to Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton for body viewing and a church service will be held at 11:15am,” said Mutamba.

Sam spent a lot of time at the Arts Academy founded by his father in 2003 and had been appointed just recently as a board member at the center.

He together with his AY Band was set to launch his second album eon April 1 which was meant to coincide with what would have been his 22nd birthday. This has also been the trend with his father, Oliver’s over 50 albums.

Oliver Mtukudzi and his was wife Daisy, who were both  in South Africa when the accident occurred, arrived towards midday on Monday. Both broke down during the process of viewing the bodies of the two young friends.
